Jilin University (hereinafter referred to as “JLU”) “Dingxin Scholar” Program is launched to recruit outstanding young scholars from home and abroad so as to nurture their huge development potential, strong self-motivation and vigorous innovation by supporting their academic exploration in innovative research. JLU sincerely welcomes outstanding young talents with a vision of innovation and dedication in scientific research.

 

Ⅰ. Recruitment Plan for 2023

 

In 2023, a maximum of 150 scholars is planned to be recruited.

 

Ⅱ. Remuneration and Benefits

 

The salary shall be no less than 300,000 RMB/year (pre-tax), paid on a monthly basis for two years. Dingxin Scholars will be provided with well-decorated housing, as well as subsidies for heating during winter. They enjoy the privilege of the medical plan and preferential policy for their dependent children to attend kindergarten, primary and secondary schools attached to JLU. They can also apply for funds and allowances for attending top-level international conferences. Those who are excellent in the assessment at the end of the term will be given priority to apply for corresponding positions in the university through talent introduction.

 

Ⅲ. Eligibility

 

1. Applicants should be under 35 years old.

 

2. Generally, applicants shall have obtained a doctoral degree within the last three years. Recent PhD graduates are preferred.

 

3. Applicants shall undertake to work full time as postdoctoral fellows at JLU after commencing the program.

 

Candidates will be assessed based on their academic achievements, research capabilities, development potential, their research proposals’ innovativeness and potential contribution to the development of the discipline.

 

Ⅳ. Channel of declaration

There are two ways to declare the support program of "Dingxin Scholars" : " regular channel " and "independent channel".

1. Regular channel

Annual application, regular review. Depending on the application situation, it will be reviewed several times, and the awarding time of doctor's degree in domestic universities will cover all.( The first batch of organizational evaluation will start from April 1, 2023, and the evaluation results are expected to be announced in mid-to-late May. The second batch of organizational evaluation is expected to be in September 2023, and the evaluation results are expected to be announced in mid-to-late November.)

2. Independent channel

In order to further attract potential overseas or external PhD candidates, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, senior professors of philosophy and social sciences, leaders of national projects of 10 million or more, chief experts of major projects funded by the National Social Sciences Fund, leaders of vertical projects of philosophy and social sciences above the level of ministry, etc., We can apply to the university for recruitment of "New scholars" based on the actual situation such as the demand of scientific research projects, and review them separately.

 

Ⅴ. Application and evaluation

Prepare the following materials, fill in the relevant declaration information and upload the relevant certification materials as prompted. The materials required are as follows:

1. Identity materials. Applicants who have obtained a doctor's degree must upload the scanning copy of the doctor's degree certificate and graduation certificate; Fresh PhD graduates must upload their student ID card and the scanned copy of the certificate of meeting the requirements for PhD graduation issued by their college.

2. Academic and scientific research results materials

(1) The scanned copy of the full text of the doctoral thesis is required to upload the version for examination. The name of the applicant, the name of the supervisor, the name of the organization and other relevant contents revealing personal information shall not appear in the thesis.

(2) Papers, monographs, patents or awards representing the applicant's highest academic level and scientific research achievements can be selected from the above types of materials, but the total number is not more than 3. Among them: the full text of the thesis, the cover, catalog and abstract of the monograph, and the scanning copy of the certificate for the patent or award.

3. Two letters of recommendation. Including recommendation letters from doctoral supervisors and peer experts.

After the deadline for application, the university will organize experts inside and outside the university to conduct evaluation, which mainly examines the academic level, scientific research ability, development potential, innovation of the proposed research content and promoting effect on the subject field.
